The newly appointed Chief Executive Officer of the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority (DVLA), Julius Neequaye Kotei, has disclosed that his predecessor, Kwasi Agyemang Busia, left behind a staggering debt of over Gh¢300 million and an additional $200 million.
Speaking in a one-on-one interview with Don Kwabena Prah on Hot FM, Kotei explained that these debts stem from various contracts, with one denominated in Ghana cedis and another in US dollars.
Despite the significant financial burden, he assured Ghanaians that his administration remains committed to executing transformative policies for the institution.
“These debts, though huge, will not hinder my plans and vision for the DVLA. I am determined to clear them and revamp the institution to restore its former glory,” he stated confidently.
Kotei emphasised his commitment to ensuring financial stability while implementing reforms to enhance efficiency and service delivery at the DVLA.
His administration aims to strengthen the agency’s operations, streamline services, and rebuild public trust despite the challenges inherited.
