As part of the 15th anniversary of MobileMoney Limited (MTN MoMo), the company has rewarded some of its agents, merchants, innovators and partners at a celebratory awards events in recognition of contribution to the success of mobile money in Ghana.
The MTN MoMo@15 National Stakeholder Dinner and Awards night, held on November 8, 2024, at the Mövenpick Ambassador Hotel in Accra, underscored MTN’s dedication to advancing financial inclusion in Ghana.
Recognising Excellence in Fintech Partnerships
MTN Ghana acknowledged outstanding contributions from fintech partners who have introduced innovative solutions and expanded MoMo’s reach.
Hubtel emerged as a star of the night, winning the prestigious Overall Best Fintech Company award for its consistent impact and collaboration with MTN. Other notable recognitions in the fintech sector included:
Fintech Partner of the Year (B2B): Nsano, for exceptional business-to-business solutions.
Most Innovative Fintech Partner: AppsNmobile, for its creative technological solutions that enhance the MoMo experience.
Government Fintech Partner of the Year: Hubtel, for driving financial inclusion through government-backed initiatives.
Merchant Fintech Partner of the Year: BluPenguin, honoured for its exceptional service to merchants.
Celebrating Leading Product Innovation
MTN also highlighted top performers in product development. In particular, Agent Flex by Tyra and FAB was awarded Most Innovative Product of the Year for its role in broadening MoMo’s utility and accessibility. Additional awards included:
Bank Partner of the Year (Lending): Letshego, for supporting MoMo’s lending services.
Fintech Partner of the Year: Jumo, for its crucial role in enhancing mobile financial services.
Remittance Partner of the Year: IT Consortium, for its dedication to remittance solutions.
Special Recognitions
The awards night was not only about businesses but also acknowledged iconic individuals. Madam Rita Tetteh, famed for her role in MTN’s beloved “Mensa Aka” advert, received special recognition alongside a GH₵30,000 cash prize.
This heartfelt award celebrated her contributions to MTN Ghana’s identity and brand story over the years.
Additionally, Archie Hesse, CEO of Ghana Interbank Payment and Settlement Systems (GhIPSS), was celebrated as the Fintech Champion of the Decade for his transformative influence on Ghana’s fintech landscape.
Top Government and Corporate Partners
Several organisations were recognised for their ongoing support of MoMo’s mission to drive financial inclusion. The Electricity Company of Ghana took home Government Partner of the Year, while Keed Ghana Limited was named Corporate Partner of the Year for its invaluable support to MTN Ghana’s corporate services.
The MoMo @15 awards showcased the partnerships and innovations that have shaped MTN MoMo’s journey, setting the stage for the next decade of financial inclusion and growth.
