The Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs, James Gyakye Quayson, MP, has received the Open Letters of the Ambassador-Designate of the United Republic of Tanzania to the Republic of Ghana, His Excellency Selestine Gervas Kakele, at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Accra.
The meeting provided an opportunity for both sides to reaffirm the longstanding and cordial relations between Ghana and Tanzania, which are deeply rooted in the shared Pan-African vision of their founding fathers, Osagyefo Dr Kwame Nkrumah and Mwalimu Julius Nyerere.
Hon Quayson highlighted the enduring friendship between the two nations and stressed the importance of strengthening cooperation in key sectors, including trade, tourism, education and cultural exchanges. He noted that enhanced collaboration in these areas would contribute significantly to the socio-economic development of both countries and further deepen the bonds between their peoples.
The Deputy Minister also underscored the need to build on the strong historical ties that have characterised relations between Ghana and Tanzania over the years, while exploring new opportunities for mutually beneficial partnerships.
For his part, Ambassador-Designate Kakele reaffirmed Tanzania’s commitment to deepening bilateral relations with Ghana. He expressed optimism about the prospects for expanding economic cooperation and fostering stronger people-to-people connections between the two countries.
The engagement reflects the shared determination of Ghana and Tanzania to strengthen diplomatic relations and advance cooperation across a range of sectors in pursuit of common development goals.
The presentation of the Open Letters marks an important step in the diplomatic process ahead of the Ambassador-Designate’s formal accreditation to the Republic of Ghana.
