The Ghana Publishing Company Limited (GPCL) recorded a 564.66% increase in operating profit in 2025, rising from GH¢2.94 million in 2024 to GH¢19.58 million, as the state-owned company makes progress in its efforts to recover from financial difficulties.
The significant improvement in its financial performance reflects a sharp rise in the company’s profitability, with profit after tax also increasing by 661.36% over the same period.
Managing Director of GPCL, Nana Kwesi Boaitey, disclosed the figures at the Accountability Series on Monday, November 2, 2026, attributing the results to improvements in the company’s operations.
“Now, the operating profit for the company in 2024 was GH¢2,946,396. This represents an increase of 564.66 per cent in operating profit. The profit before tax declared after the audit was GH¢21,400,438,736, compared with the 2024 figure of GH¢3,414,258. This represents an increase of 572.92% in profit before tax.
“Ultimately, the audited profit after tax was GH¢16,959,881, compared with GH¢2,227,563 in 2024. This represents an increase of 661.36% in the Ghana Publishing Company’s profitability in 2025 alone. This clearly indicates that the company is on course and is capable of even a stronger performance this year,” he stated.
Beyond the 2025 results, Mr Boaitey expressed confidence that the company would surpass its previous year’s performance, disclosing that its financial position as of October 2026 suggested a significant improvement was achievable.
“In fact, as of October this year, we are certain that we will beat last year’s performance by a significant margin,” he said.
He described the company’s turnaround as a recovery from a period of severe financial distress, expressing optimism that sustaining the current trajectory would deliver further gains.
“This is a company that has clearly come from the depths of financial distress to some significant reprieve. Hopefully, if we continue on this trajectory, the company should be able to post significantly stronger performances going forward,” he added.
