The Deputy Minister for Communications and Digitalisation, Charles Acheampong, has officially launched a bilateral ECOWAS Free Roaming initiative between Ghana and two of its neighbouring countries, Togo and Benin.
This initiative builds on the earlier success of the ECOWAS Free Roaming partnership between Ghana and Côte d’Ivoire, where citizens of both countries can use mobile services across borders without incurring international roaming charges.

The new agreements with Togo and Benin will allow for the same seamless mobile service experience, enabling travellers to use their phones without additional fees while in these countries.
The ECOWAS Roaming Initiative is part of the region’s broader efforts to improve connectivity and foster economic integration among West African nations. With the expansion of this initiative, Ghana continues to strengthen its commitment to enhancing cross-border communication and reducing barriers to digital access across the sub-region.
