Presidential Candidate of the Movement for Change, Alan Kwadwo Kyerematen, has declared that he has achieved more in digitalisation than the Vice President and NPP flagbearer for the 2024 election, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.

Alan Kyerematen made the declaration in response to the popular claim from the NPP and sections of Ghanaians who hail Dr. Bawumia as the “champion of digitalization” for his spirited focus on driving the Digital Ghana Agenda.

He was speaking with popular YouTuber, Kwadwo Sheldon on his show dubbed “Convo with the Head.”

Dr. Bawumia is widely credited with critical digital infrastructure like the Ghana Card, Mobile Money Interoperability, Ghana.gov, paperless port, and several other digital initiatives which are driving financial inclusion and making government’s work flow even smoother.

However, Alan Kyerematen asserts that his own track record in digitalisation is unmatched and far more practical and impactful than anything Dr. Bawumia can boast of.

While admitting that he may not be as prominently known in the digital space as Dr. Bawumia, Kyerematen emphasised that his initiatives speak volumes.

One of his significant achievements, he stated, is the introduction of Trade Africa Online, the first e-commerce platform to support digital trade across Africa.

He also noted that he was the chief architect behind the ground-breaking Africa Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) project, envisioning, designing, and developing the platform to promote African trade via digitalization.

“This is not a platform that competes with Alibaba or Amazon,” Kyerematen clarified. “It is an indigenous platform that supports African trade and is the biggest project in Africa since the late Dr. Kwame Nkrumah.”

In addition to Trade Africa Online, and AfCFTA, the Movement for Change Flagbearer also revealed that he has also developed a digital platform to mobilize at least three million youth with various levels of skills to benefit from the jobs boom that his 10-point plan for the youth and jobs will create.

He urged Ghanaians to be assertive and carefully evaluate all the presidential candidates contesting the 2024 elections, suggesting that his contributions to digitalisation make him the best choice to lead the country.

Moreover, he stated that both NPP and NDC have had their opportunities and both of them sent Ghana back to IMF, adding that, on the basis of their spectacular failure, it is even unthinkable for any of the two parties to even dream of offering themselves as alternatives.
