Scancom PLC (MTN Ghana) has announced the acquisition of GH₵10.9 million worth of shares by some of its non-executive directors, a move aimed at bolstering Ghanaian participation in the company.
The shares, totalling 6,197,117 and representing 0.0468% of MTN Ghana’s issued shares, were purchased on August 16, 2024, at GH₵1.77 per share.
The acquisition was facilitated by Investcom Consortium Holdings SA, the company’s majority shareholder, following independent due diligence.
Key participants include:
- Felix Addo: Acquired 5,568,144 shares, now holding 0.0421%.
- Rosemond Bene Ebe-Arthur: Purchased 278,407 shares, raising her stake to 0.0021%.
- Dr. Ishmael Yamson (Chairman): Added 167,044 shares, increasing his holdings to 0.0013%.
- Kofi Nkisah Dadzie: Bought 100,000 shares, holding 0.0008%.
- NanaAma Boama Botchway: Acquired 83,522 shares, now holding 0.0006%.
MTN Ghana affirmed that the transactions adhere to all legal and regulatory frameworks, including the Companies Act, Securities Industry Act, and the Ghana Stock Exchange’s regulations. The company emphasised that the shares were acquired under the same conditions as those offered to other independent third parties.
The move aligns with MTN Ghana’s ongoing efforts to enhance local ownership and investment in the company’s growth. “These transactions underscore our commitment to fostering greater local participation and aligning with our vision for a shared prosperity,” MTN Ghana stated.
Since the transaction, MTN Ghana’s shares have seen significant appreciation, closing at GH₵2.45 per share as of the latest trading session.
