Zeepay, the fastest growing fintech in Africa triumphed at the 13th Ghana Information Technology and Telecoms Awards (GITTA), securing five (5) prestigious awards.
The event held at Movenpick Ambassador Hotel in Accra celebrated private industry players, state institutions and individuals who have made contributions to the development of the technology and fintech sectors within the year under review.
Zeepay practically clinched all the fintech category awards on the night – Â Best Use of AI in Fintech, Emerging Mobile Money Provider of the Year, Fintech Personality of the Year, Fintech Team of the Year, and Fintech Company of the Year underscoring its reputation as a beacon of best practices in the industry.
The Zeepay CEO, Andrew Takyi-Appiah and his team brought excitement to the awards event with their joyful dance moves as they head towards the stage to receive their awards.
Zeepay has over the last ten years been focusing on digital rails to connect digital assets such as mobile money wallets, cards, ATMs, bank accounts and digital tokens to International Money Transfer Operators, Payments, Subscriptions, International Airtime and Refugee payments.
The company, which was the first fintech to have won the number one spot on the Ghana Club100, is most reputed for developing the digital rails which today enable billions of dollars worth of remittances to be terminated directly into the mobile wallets of individuals across Africa and other parts of the world. Currently, Zeepay enables money transfers direct to wallet across 200 countries and counting.
Rarely do regulators in Africa allow outbound remittance, but recently, Zeepay has secured approval in parts of Africa, including Ghana to do outbound remittance – enabling Africans to remit money to their wards in schools outside of their home countries, among other use cases.
Zeepay is the first non-telco mobile money wallet in Ghana. But with innovation, it is currently riding high as the weak number two in terms of mobile finance service revenue in the country. It is well on its way to become the largest mobile money operator in Africa in terms of footprint.
The company is driven by a vision to create a borderless Africa, enabling seamless P2P and B2B payments across the continent to facilitate trade within the AfCFTA context.
Techfocus24 congratulates Zeepay for putting Ghana on the map in the digital finance and payments space.
