OpenAI to launch new AI model “Strawberry” focused on advanced reasoning

OpenAI is set to release a new AI model, code-named “Strawberry,” within the next two weeks, according to a report by The Information.

This reasoning-focused AI is expected to be part of OpenAI’s ChatGPT service, with the company aiming to further enhance its chatbot’s capabilities.

Unlike traditional conversational AI models, Strawberry will reportedly have the ability to “think” before responding, offering more considered and accurate answers rather than delivering immediate responses.

This novel approach marks a key distinction in how OpenAI’s new model processes and responds to queries.

While Strawberry is linked to ChatGPT, it is expected to be a standalone offering, though the specifics on how it will be made available remain unclear. The initial version of the model will be text-only, meaning it will not yet support multimodal capabilities like image processing.

OpenAI, led by CEO Sam Altman, has attracted substantial investments and widespread interest, particularly from Microsoft, as businesses look to leverage AI for product enhancements.

OpenAI recently announced that it has surpassed a million paying users for its business-focused products, driven by the success of its advanced large language models.

Both OpenAI and Microsoft declined to comment on the details surrounding Strawberry’s release.
