Nana Kwame Bediako, popularly known as Cheddar, an independent presidential candidate in the 2024 elections, has unveiled an ambitious plan to establish a state-of-the-art data centre dedicated to crypto mining, coin minting, and asset tokenisation across selected regions in Ghana.

In his 12 pillars development plan for the country, the real estate guru envisions his initiative as a transformative step that will position Ghana as Africa’s gateway to the rapidly growing multi-trillion-dollar cryptocurrency industry.

He emphasised that the demand for data centres is projected to exceed supply by 300% in the coming years, according to findings from Africa Infrastructure Investment Managers (AIIM). This underscores the urgency of building infrastructure to support the burgeoning cloud computing sector emerging from Ghana’s evolving technology landscape.

Highlighting the potential of Ghana’s youthful population, Nana Kwame Bediako pointed out that over 85% of the country’s citizens are under the age of 50.

He stressed the need for a transformative leap in building a software hub that taps into this dynamic workforce, saying “We must harness the innovative spirit of our youth to propel Ghana into the global technology arena.”

Nana Kwame Bediako’s vision includes a strategic focus on cutting-edge technologies such as Web3, artificial intelligence, and blockchain.

He believes that with the right infrastructure and investment, Ghana can lead the continent in technological advancement and innovation.

As the 2024 elections approach, Cheddar’s proposal has sparked discussions about the future of technology and cryptocurrency in Ghana, positioning him as a forward-thinking candidate committed to advancing the nation in the digital age.
