Atlantic Catering has made history as the first full-service catering and hospitality company in Ghana to become a signatory of the United Nations Global Compact (UNGC) — the world’s largest corporate sustainability initiative.
The milestone was marked at a private onboarding ceremony held on Wednesday, June 11, 2025, at the company’s Accra head office, with representatives from UN Global Compact Ghana and Atlantic Catering’s executive team in attendance.
The UN Global Compact unites businesses worldwide under a shared commitment to operate responsibly by aligning with ten universal principles covering human rights, labour, environment, and anti-corruption, while supporting the broader achievement of the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Welcoming Atlantic Catering into the fold, Mr Tolu Lacroix, Executive Director of UN Global Compact Ghana, highlighted the significance of their leadership within the local private sector:
“Companies like Atlantic Catering play a vital role in shaping a business environment that is responsible, ethical and future-focused. Their participation strengthens our mission to advance sustainability across all sectors.”
Atlantic Catering is already implementing key sustainability practices through its CARES initiative, which focuses on waste reduction, ethical sourcing, employee well-being, and community impact. The initiative reflects the company’s commitment to embedding sustainability at both operational and strategic levels.
“Joining the UN Global Compact is a natural extension of our values,” said Maud Lindsay-Gamrat, CEO of Atlantic Catering.
“We understand that true hospitality goes beyond exceptional food and service. It’s also about CARE — caring for people, communities and the planet.”
The announcement comes at a time of heightened environmental awareness during World Environment Month, reinforcing Atlantic Catering’s role as a trailblazer for green practices within Ghana’s hospitality industry.
“This step reflects our belief that business can be a force for good,” Lindsay-Gamrat added. “We look forward to learning, growing and contributing meaningfully within this global network.”
