Knoxxi Health uncovers ALARMING chronic illness trends across markets and offices in Ghana

Alarming cases of hypertension discovered among Mallam Market women

Medical checkups conducted by field teams from health-tech company, Knoxxi Health, has revealed widespread and undiagnosed health conditions across both informal and formal settings, including critically high blood pressure, undetected diabetes, rising levels of obesity, co-morbidities (e.g., hypertension + diabetes + stress) and increasing emotional burnout in workplace environments.

The discovery indicates that a silent health crisis is unfolding across Ghana, as thousands of people go about their daily lives completely unaware of dangerous health conditions. But Knoxxi Health, a Ghanaian health-tech company, is on a mission to change that — one vitals check at a time.

With its pioneering approach to preventive and community-based care, Knoxxi Health is delivering personalized, on-the-ground health monitoring in spaces where care is needed most: local markets, corporate offices, and rural communities.

Knoxxi Health is disrupting traditional models by integrating preventive care into everyday life through community market outreach and weekly in-office heath checkups.

Community Outreaches

Nurses and doctors visit Mallam Market and Madina Market regularly, offering blood pressure, blood sugar, and BMI checks; mood and emotional wellbeing assessments (WHO-5) and on-site health education and referrals. The nurses visit five days in a week, while the doctors go once every month.

In December last year, Knoxxi Health took a team to Mallam Market in Accra, where they discovered over 70% of the market women had worrying levels of hypertension without even knowing. They have since extended their services to Madina Market and some corporate institutions across the country.

“We’ve found people with stroke-level blood pressure just sitting at their market stalls like everything is okay,” said a Knoxxi nurse stationed at Madina Market. “It’s not that they don’t care — they simply don’t know.”

What is even more worrying is that, despite the severity of cases discovered, most individuals have never had routine checkups and are completely unaware of their vitals — a gap Knoxxi is actively closing.

Knoxxi Health Corporate

Knoxxi also partners with companies to deliver weekly in-office health checkups. Corporate teams gain individual health checks for employees, real-time, anonymized dashboards for HR/Admins and insights into staff wellness trends, allowing timely, targeted interventions.

So far, Knoxxi has conducted a large-scale pilot for 1,645 workers of various corporate organizations across the country. Out of that number, 914 (55.6%) had above-normal readings and 730 (44.4%) had normal blood pressure.

A further breakdown of the 914 persons indicated that 56 persons (3.4%) had elevated levels of blood pressure, 492 (29.9%) had Stage 1 hypertension, 337 (20.5%) had Stage 2 hypertension and 28 (1.7%) were in hypertensive crisis.

Mental Health

Knoxxi also integrates emotional health into its platform with mood check-ins (Great / Okay / Not Okay), WHO-5 assessments to track wellbeing over time and confidential trends for HR/Admins to support mental wellness programming

Personalized Plans for Prevention and Reversal

Knoxxi goes further than just monitoring — the platform is designed to prevent lifestyle-related illnesses through early detection, reverse conditions like early-stage hypertension and obesity and manage long-term risks with individual coaching, follow-ups, and digital tools

Each individual, according to the company, receives personalized health recommendations, powered by a growing ecosystem of features.
