Kumasi-based ecommerce platform, TUAGYE introduces features to protect users from fraud

Tuagye, a Kumasi-based e-commerce marketplace has launched a third version (V3) of its app with specific updates intentionally designed to protect buyers from fraud and simply listing for sellers and make the platform even more user friendly.

The update brings four major innovations to the platform: a fully integrated escrow payment system, AI-powered product listings that go live in under 10 seconds, a verified seller network, and an in-app chat system built for real negotiations.

A statement from Tuagye said “This is the company’s most direct assault yet on the fraud and mistrust that has kept millions of Ghanaians from embracing online commerce.”

The platform now hosts over 1,000 verified product listings and has surpassed 1,000 downloads across the Google Play Store and Apple App Store, with a growing and active community of buyers and sellers transacting on the platform daily.

The Problem

Online shopping in Ghana has long been defined by a trust deficit. Buyers fear paying for goods that never arrive. Sellers fear shipping before they see money. Fraud is common enough that many Ghanaians default to in-person transactions even when a digital option would be faster and more convenient. Tuagye V3 is engineered to make that mistrust obsolete.

Tuagye solution – Escrow Payments

When a buyer places an order on Tuagye, payment is held securely in escrow and only released to the seller after the buyer confirms receipt of their goods.

The system includes built-in dispute resolution, so if something goes wrong, neither party is left without recourse.

Escrowed funds are held securely with licensed banking partners in Ghana — not by Tuagye — ensuring the system operates fully within Ghana’s established financial regulatory framework.

The protection is mutual: sellers receive guaranteed payment on confirmed orders, with no reversals and no disappearing buyers.

AI-Powered Listings — Any Seller, Live in Under 10 Seconds

Any individual, trader, or shop owner in Ghana can now list a product on Tuagye in under ten seconds, powered by AI that handles product descriptions and categorisation automatically.

What previously required time, technical knowledge, or outside assistance now takes a single interaction. The barrier to selling online in Ghana has effectively been removed.

Verified Sellers — Know Exactly Who You’re Buying From

Every seller on Tuagye is verified before going live on the platform. Buyers can transact with confidence knowing that the person on the other side of the screen is real, accountable, and has been vetted. For sellers, verification builds the kind of credibility that drives repeat business.

In-App Chat — Negotiations Built Into the Experience

Commerce in Ghana is conversational. Prices are discussed; deals are struck through dialogue. Tuagye V3 brings that dynamic into the platform with a native chat system that lets buyers and sellers negotiate directly — before any payment is made — without leaving the app or losing the transaction record.

Open to Every Seller in Ghana

Tuagye V3 removes all remaining barriers to seller onboarding. Any shop or individual in Ghana can now add a payment account and immediately begin accepting orders through the platform. The process is designed to be accessible to sellers of every size and level of technical experience — from artisans in Kumasi’s markets to traders operating across multiple regions.

Why This Matters

Most attempts to grow e-commerce in Ghana have addressed logistics or payments in isolation. Tuagye’s approach is to solve trust comprehensively — combining payment security, identity verification, AI-assisted onboarding, and in-app negotiation into a single, seamless experience built specifically for how Ghanaians do business.

“We built Tuagye around one question: what would it take for an ordinary Ghanaian to feel completely safe buying and selling online?” said Evans Obeng, Chief Executive Officer of Tuagye. “V3 is our answer. The escrow protects your money. The verification tells you who you’re dealing with. The AI gets any seller live in seconds. And the chat lets you negotiate the way Ghanaians have always done business — by talking. Put it all together and online shopping in Ghana will never be the same.”

Tuagye is available for free download on the Google Play Store and Apple App Store.
