Chief Enterprise Business Officer for MTN Ghana Angela Mensah-Poku has reaffirmed the telco giant’s commitment to driving digital transformation across Ghana, with a strong focus on empowering SMEs, improving connectivity and expanding digital inclusion nationwide.

Speaking at the MTN Digital Transformation Conference 2026 for marketers and advertising professionals in Accra, Ms Mensah-Poku, said the event was designed to move conversations around digital transformation and artificial intelligence from theory to practical industry application.

‎‎The conference brought together more than 500 professionals from Ghana’s marketing and advertising sectors, including representatives from Ghana Commercial Bank, Ecobank, the World Trade Centre and MTN’s own marketing teams, alongside other industry stakeholders.

‎‎According to Ms Mensah-Poku, the gathering aimed to encourage meaningful discussions on how digital tools can be leveraged to drive customer engagement, business growth and international reach for Ghanaian enterprises.

‎‎“We need to make digital transformation practical and bring it down into the actual industries and professional bodies,” she said. “People are talking about AI and digital transformation at a high level, but businesses want to know what it means for them in their daily operations.”

‎‎She noted that MTN Ghana is partnering with global technology firms such as Meta and other digital hyperscalers to support digital transformation across consumer, corporate and SME sectors.

‎‎She emphasised that MTN’s approach to digital inclusion goes beyond hosting conferences in major cities, adding that the company is actively taking digital education and capacity-building programmes into rural communities.

‎“For MTN, we have always believed that nobody should be digitally left behind,” she stated. “We are going into rural Ghana through the foundation, the consumer business and the SME segments to provide digital training and capacity building.”

‎She revealed that the company would continue its outreach efforts in regions such as Koforidua, where digital marketing and skills training initiatives are planned for local businesses.

‎Ms Mensah-Poku also encouraged SMEs to embrace accessible digital platforms rather than relying solely on expensive technologies.

‎‎“You can use social media and still be a king in your home and reach people in Greece, France and beyond to sell your products,” she said. “It is about using the tools available to grow your business beyond the shores of Ghana.”

‎Addressing the broader impact of digital transformation on the Ghanaian economy, she highlighted its role in advancing financial inclusion, e-commerce growth and job creation.

‎She further underscored the urgency for businesses to adapt to evolving digital trends, warning that organisations risk being left behind if they fail to embrace innovation.

‎‎“The world is changing when it comes to marketing,” Ms Mensah-Poku stated. “There is an urgency to change because if we do not, we will be left behind.”

‎‎On connectivity, she reiterated MTN Ghana’s plans to strengthen its infrastructure footprint across both urban and rural areas. She referenced remarks made by the company’s CEO and Chief Home Officer regarding ongoing investments in network coverage and broadband expansion.

‎“Digital transformation and great connectivity go hand in hand,” she added. “We are committed to extending our broadband footprint and improving connectivity across Ghana.”
