Tema Oil Refinery has announced the arrival of approximately one million barrels of Bonga crude oil as part of efforts to strengthen its refining operations and support Ghana’s energy security objectives.

‎‎In a statement issued on Facebook, the refinery said the cargo arrived aboard the MT Cap Felix under its ongoing refinery revitalisation and crude processing programme.

‎‎According to TOR, the crude oil was purchased from and supplied through its tolling partner, Fujeirah/Triangle Commodities Trading (TCT), under arrangements intended to support the refinery’s operational recovery and ensure a steady supply of petroleum products to the domestic market.

‎‎The refinery described the delivery as another important step in its efforts to restore stable refining activities and reduce Ghana’s dependence on imported refined petroleum products.

‎‎TOR noted that Bonga crude is recognised for its low-sulphur content and favourable refining yields, making it suitable for the production of key petroleum products including liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), gasoline, diesel, kerosene, aviation turbine kerosene (ATK) and fuel oil.

‎‎Management of the refinery also expressed appreciation to the Government of Ghana, regulatory agencies, financial institutions and other stakeholders for their continued support towards the refinery’s operational resurgence.

‎‎The company further reaffirmed its commitment to transparency, operational efficiency, environmental responsibility and the long-term transformation of the refinery into a commercially sustainable energy hub serving both Ghana and the wider West African sub-region.

‎TOR said it would continue to engage stakeholders and the public as refinery operations progress.
