Google has launched Gemini Spark for macOS, extending its artificial intelligence assistant to Apple’s desktop platform while introducing broader third-party app integrations and new real-time topic tracking capabilities.

‎The company said Gemini Spark for macOS enables users to automate a range of desktop tasks, including organising files and creating spreadsheets using documents stored locally on their devices. With user permission, the AI assistant can access both desktop files and Google Workspace content simultaneously to complete tasks more efficiently.

‎Google also revealed plans to introduce remote task execution from mobile devices in a future update, allowing users to initiate desktop actions while away from their computers.

‎The macOS version of Gemini Spark is available in beta to Google AI Ultra subscribers aged 18 and above in the United States. Eligible users can download the application through Google’s dedicated Gemini website.

‎Alongside the desktop launch, Google has expanded Gemini Spark’s connected apps to include Google Tasks, Google Keep, Canva, Dropbox, Instacart, OpenTable and Zillow Rentals. The integrations are designed to allow users to convert notes into task lists, create promotional materials, share files, reserve restaurant tables, order groceries and arrange apartment viewings directly through the AI assistant.

‎The company said the connected app integrations will begin rolling out over the coming week on the web and mobile platforms, with support for macOS expected to follow in the weeks ahead.

‎‎Google has also enhanced Gemini Spark with real-time topic tracking across multiple information sources, including blogs, news websites, social media platforms, financial markets, shopping services, weather updates, sports and email.

‎The new capability enables users to receive updates when predefined conditions are met, such as when a stock reaches a target price or when the result of a sporting event becomes available.

‎The latest announcements form part of Google’s broader strategy to make Gemini a more capable digital assistant by extending its productivity features across desktop and mobile environments while strengthening its integration with external services.
