The Deputy Minister for Health, Professor Dr Grace Ayensu-Danquah, has met with the Central Regional Health Directorate and District Directors of Health Services as part of the second day of the Maternal Mortality Action and Response Programme (MMARP) tour of the Central Region.

‎The engagement centred on validating gaps in the maternal mortality response system at both the regional and district levels, as the Ministry of Health intensifies efforts to tackle preventable maternal deaths across the country.

‎‎The meeting provided a platform for participants to assess existing challenges affecting maternal healthcare delivery, exchange experiences from their respective districts, and identify practical interventions to strengthen the health system’s response to maternal mortality.

‎‎Discussions also focused on improving coordination among health facilities, enhancing the quality of maternal healthcare services, and ensuring more effective implementation of response measures aimed at safeguarding the lives of pregnant women and new mothers.

‎‎The MMARP tour forms part of ongoing efforts by the Ministry of Health to engage frontline health managers, identify systemic weaknesses, and develop targeted solutions to improve maternal health outcomes.

‎The Ministry remains committed to working closely with regional and district health authorities to strengthen maternal healthcare services and accelerate progress towards reducing preventable maternal deaths nationwide.
