The Deputy Minister for Health, Dr Grace Ayensu-Danquah, has urged healthcare professionals to make the best use of available resources to save lives while efforts continue to strengthen Ghana’s health system.

‎‎Speaking during a working visit to Tamale Teaching Hospital, she stressed the need for immediate action to tackle maternal deaths, particularly those linked to preventable conditions such as anaemia and hypertension.

‎‎”Let us save lives with the resources we have while we work to strengthen the health system,” she told health professionals, underscoring the importance of delivering timely and effective maternal healthcare.

‎During the visit, the Deputy Minister assessed maternal health services at the hospital and reviewed referral pathways as well as emergency response systems. She also validated gaps in the existing maternal mortality response framework as part of efforts to improve the quality of maternal healthcare.

‎‎According to the Ministry of Health, the visit forms part of a broader initiative aimed at improving timely access to life-saving maternal care under the national maternal health programme.

‎‎The assessment is expected to inform measures to strengthen emergency obstetric care, enhance referral systems and improve outcomes for pregnant women, particularly those facing life-threatening complications.

‎‎The Ministry continues to prioritise interventions that reduce maternal mortality and ensure that women across the country have access to quality, timely and life-saving healthcare services.
