Faisal Ali, Manager, MobileMoney Channel Development explains how Ride with Momo works to stakeholders

Commercial drivers across Ghana have been encouraged to register for a dedicated MTN Mobile Money (MoMo) wallet to participate in the Ride with MoMo initiative and earn weekly and monthly rewards for accepting digital payments.

‎Speaking at the launch of the Ride with Momo in Accra, Faisal Ali, Manager, Mobile Money Channel Development at MobileMoney Fintech Limited (MMFL), said the programme is open to all categories of commercial drivers, including taxi drivers, ride-hailing drivers, truck drivers and other transport operators.

‎‎He explained that to qualify, drivers must use a registered MTN MoMo wallet created specifically for the initiative rather than a personal wallet.

‎Mr Ali said registration is free and can be completed at any MTN office or at the registration desk at the launch venue upon presentation of a valid Ghana Card.

‎He noted that the initiative seeks to encourage wider adoption of digital payments while rewarding drivers who embrace cashless transactions in their daily operations.

‎Under the reward scheme, drivers who complete at least 20 transactions with a cumulative value of GHS1,000 or more within a week will receive 1GB of data.

‎In addition, the top 10 performing drivers in each region every week will each receive GHS500 in cash together with 1GB of data.

‎The initiative also includes a monthly incentive under which top-performing drivers will receive GHS1,000 in recognition of their performance.

‎Mr Ali urged commercial drivers across the country to take advantage of the initiative by registering for the dedicated MoMo wallet, accepting digital payments from passengers and reducing their dependence on cash transactions.

‎‎He said the programme not only offers attractive rewards but also enhances the safety and convenience of drivers by minimising the risks associated with carrying large amounts of cash.
