Amazon Web Services (AWS) has said it cannot restore access to its cloud-computing facility in Bahrain and one of three data-hosting zones in the United Arab Emirates following damage sustained during the Iran war.

‎The cloud-computing unit of Amazon said the damage in Bahrain affected multiple availability zones, which are clusters of one or more data centres located within the same geographic region.

‎‎In a status update on Tuesday, AWS said the damage to its infrastructure spanned multiple availability zones and exceeded the capacity that its regional and multi-availability zone services are designed to withstand.

‎‎The company said it was supporting customers in Bahrain to re-establish their operations in other regions.

‎‎AWS did not provide further details on the extent of the damage but confirmed that access to the affected Bahrain facility could not be restored.

‎‎The company also said one of the three data-hosting zones in the UAE had been affected by the damage.
