Amazon Web Services (AWS) has said it cannot restore access to its cloud-computing facility in Bahrain and one of three data-hosting zones in the United Arab Emirates following damage sustained during the Iran war.
The cloud-computing unit of Amazon said the damage in Bahrain affected multiple availability zones, which are clusters of one or more data centres located within the same geographic region.
In a status update on Tuesday, AWS said the damage to its infrastructure spanned multiple availability zones and exceeded the capacity that its regional and multi-availability zone services are designed to withstand.
The company said it was supporting customers in Bahrain to re-establish their operations in other regions.
AWS did not provide further details on the extent of the damage but confirmed that access to the affected Bahrain facility could not be restored.
The company also said one of the three data-hosting zones in the UAE had been affected by the damage.
