Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang has reportedly predicted that the company’s chip sales could double in 2027, driven by growing adoption of artificial intelligence (AI) across industries.
Bloomberg reported that Huang made the prediction on 17 September during an event in the UK hosted by King Charles III.
Nvidia is the largest seller of AI accelerators, the chips used to develop and power AI models. The company does not separately disclose chip sales in its financial results.
However, Nvidia said in its most recent earnings that it expects 70% revenue growth in fiscal 2028, which would bring revenue to $673 billion.
Huang’s prediction comes as the US and other parts of the world grapple with concerns over the pace of AI development and the potential risks associated with increasingly capable AI models.
Despite those concerns, Huang has continued to support the development of AI, while stressing that companies have a responsibility to ensure their AI software and services are safe before they are released.
His comments also come after US President Donald Trump reportedly called Huang during an AI event on 14 September to express his full support for unfettered AI development, according to NBC News.
The reported sales forecast highlights Huang’s expectation that demand for AI chips will continue to expand as the technology is adopted across a wider range of industries.
