Honor has unveiled the Magic9 Pro Max flagship smartphone in China, positioning the device as a handheld camera system with professional-level video capabilities.
The smartphone features dual 200MP cameras and incorporates hardware and software developed in partnership with camera technology specialist ARRI, following Honor’s collaboration with the company announced at MWC26 Barcelona.
Honor said the Magic9 Pro Max is designed to deliver a cinematic-level video experience, with features including image stabilisation, 4K video recording at 60 frames per second, a four-microphone set-up and camera settings associated with traditional film cameras.
The device also incorporates Honor’s self-developed H1 imaging chip, which is built on a 6nm process and is designed to support its imaging capabilities.
Honor described the Magic9 Pro Max as “a defining moment in the Magic Series’ decade-long evolution”, adding that the smartphone makes professional cinematic creation more accessible to everyday creators.
Beyond its camera system, Honor highlighted the device’s performance capabilities, including the recently unveiled Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 Mobile Platform, which the company said provides high performance for on-device artificial intelligence and gaming.
The Magic9 Pro Max comes with an 8,800mAh battery and a 6.8-inch LTPO OLED display. It runs MagicOS 11, based on Android 17.
The smartphone will be available in black, silver and green, with four memory configurations.
Sales in China began on 28 September, with prices ranging from CNY6,499 ($968) for the entry-level version to CNY8,499 for the highest-priced configuration.
Honor is also offering a bundle that includes accessories designed for video creation.
Availability of the Magic9 Pro Max in selected international markets will be announced at a later date.
