aYo Ghana gives Free COVID-19 insurance benefit to Ghanaians

aYo Intermediaries Ghana Limited (aYo Ghana) has announced a free COVID-19 benefit in the form of a free insurance cover for its existing and new customers to cushion them during this global pandemic.

The Free COVID-19 Benefit includes a death benefit that pays a lump sum of GH¢1,000 in the unfortunate demise of the customer or registered family member due to COVID-19 infection.

Another component of the Free COVID-19 Benefit is a hospitalization benefit that provides the customer with a lump sum of GH¢500 to support their medical bills when hospitalized due to COVID-19 diagnoses.

A statement from the company signed by CEO Francis Gota said “This cover is extended to the family member registered under ‘Recharge with Care’ Life cover as well,” adding that subscribers can get up to GH¢3,000 life insurance cover for one family member to cater for funeral expenses without any stress or hassle.

The Free COVID-19 Benefit comes as an additional package to customers on aYo ‘Recharge with Care’ service, which offers life and hospital insurance cover every time you recharge your airtime.

Under that cover, subscribers get up to GH¢100 per night for each night they are admitted at the hospital to support hospital admission bills and up to GHC6,000 when the registered family is deceased, or the family of the policyholder gets the amount when the policyholder dies.

“Also, customers on ‘aYo Send With Care’ who are already enjoying up to GHS30,000 hospital and life insurance cover and up to GHs6,000.00 life cover for their family members registered on the service will also benefit from this free offer,” the statement said.

The Free Covid-19 Benefit took effect for existing aYo customers from May 2020 and it is expected to last through the next six months ending in November 2020.

New customers will enjoy the benefit after a waiting period of 30 days following their registration for any of the aYo services.

Commenting on the newly launched Free COVID-19 Benefit cover, the CEO of aYo Ghana, Francis Gota, said, “We have come up with the Free COVID -19 Benefit for all our over 3 million existing customers and new on-boarded customers because at aYo, the health and safety of our clients and that of their families is our top priority.”

Chief Marketing Officer for MTN, Noel Kojo-Ganson, in his comments, commended aYo Ghana for the initiative which complements MTN’s support to customers through access to over 200 educational websites that has been zero-rated and MTN Ghana Foundation’s support with medical supplies for the Ghana Health Service.

MTN Customers can sign on to aYo’s services to enjoy the Free COVID-19 Benefit by   dialing *296#, to register for the ‘Recharge with Care’ and also by dialing *170#, select option 1 (transfer money) and then option 3 (Send with Care) on the Mobile Money menu to sign up to ‘aYo Send with Care’.
