The Bank of Ghana (BoG) has clarified that Governor Dr Johnson Pandit Asiama ceased to serve on the Board of the Ghana Gold Board (GoldBod) on 11 May 2026.
The Bank said Dr Asiama had not participated in any meetings or activities of the GoldBod Board since that date.
According to the BoG, it has since nominated its Second Deputy Governor, Mrs Matilda Asante-Asiedu, as its representative on the GoldBod Board.
The Bank said Mrs Asante-Asiedu had assumed the role in accordance with Section 4 of the Ghana Gold Board Act, 2025 (Act 1140).
The provision requires the Bank of Ghana to be represented on the GoldBod Board by the Governor or an official of the Bank not below the rank of Director.
The clarification follows recent public commentary regarding the Bank’s representation on the GoldBod Board.
The BoG said its current representation fulfilled the statutory requirement and reaffirmed its commitment to the highest standards of governance and transparency.
It also said it remained committed to avoiding any actual or perceived conflict of interest in the discharge of its mandate.
