Spain-based CaixaBank has extended its partnership with Google Cloud to 2033 as it seeks to expand its use of artificial intelligence (AI) and cloud technologies to serve its 13 million customers.

‎‎Under the agreement, the bank will deploy Google Cloud’s Gemini Enterprise platform to develop and manage AI agents designed to help employees analyse complex financial information, automate repetitive tasks and streamline everyday workflows.

‎‎The expanded partnership will focus on AI adoption, cloud infrastructure and security, alongside professional services, joint projects and employee training.

‎‎CaixaBank plans to use Gemini Enterprise to analyse large datasets and deploy specialised AI agents for document management, classification and the summarisation of complex content.

‎‎The bank will also combine its private systems with Google Cloud infrastructure to improve resilience, scalability and service availability. The agreement further covers threat detection and security monitoring.

‎‎The companies said the collaboration would include training to help employees use the new technologies, with all activities operating under CaixaBank’s security, privacy and responsible AI policies.

‎‎CaixaBank first partnered with Google Cloud in 2023. The bank said it has the largest digital customer base in Spain’s financial sector.
