Communication Ministry hosts ECOWAS delegation to deepen regional digital collaboration

The Minister for Communication, Digital Technology and Innovations, Samuel Nartey George, has reaffirmed Ghana’s commitment to regional digital transformation following a high-level meeting with a delegation from the ECOWAS Commission.

The delegation paid a courtesy call on the minister in Accra, with discussions focused on strengthening collaboration in digital innovation and advancing regional development initiatives across West Africa.

During the meeting, both parties underscored the importance of partnerships in driving innovation, promoting knowledge sharing, and enhancing regional cooperation. Key among the discussions was the need to leverage digital transformation to create opportunities for young people across the sub-region.

 

The ECOWAS delegation commended the Ministry for its leadership and continued support for regional programmes, particularly the ongoing hackathon initiative aimed at nurturing innovation and talent among the youth.

In response, the minister reiterated Ghana’s readiness to work closely with ECOWAS and other regional partners to build inclusive digital solutions that benefit the broader West African community.

The visiting delegation comprised Folake Olagunju, Director of Digital Economy and Post; Mawuli Amoa, Principal Officer for Telecoms, Posts Policy and Regulation; Marie Nde Sene Ahouantchede, Principal Officer for Cybersecurity, Internet and Applications; as well as Communications Officers Amamata Suleiman and Adeniyi Adebisi.

The meeting concluded with a shared commitment to deepen cooperation and explore new avenues for impactful regional engagement, particularly in the area of digital innovation.
