The Deputy Minister for Communication, Digital Technology and Innovations, Mohammed Adam Sukparu, has reaffirmed the Government’s commitment to building a digitally inclusive Ghana by investing in digital infrastructure, connectivity, innovation and future-ready skills.
Mr Sukparu made the remarks while delivering the keynote address on behalf of the Minister for Communication, Digital Technology and Innovations, Samuel Nartey George, at the 2026 E-Learning Awareness Week and International Conference at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) in Kumasi.
The conference, themed “Harnessing AI and Emerging Digital Technologies to Advance Inclusive, Equitable and Ethical Learning Ecosystems,” brought together policymakers, academics, industry leaders, development partners, researchers and students to examine how artificial intelligence and emerging digital technologies can transform education and support Ghana’s development agenda.
Addressing participants, the Deputy Minister stressed that the Government was committed to ensuring that artificial intelligence is deployed responsibly, with strong emphasis on ethics, accountability and inclusion.
He said AI should serve as a tool for expanding opportunities rather than deepening existing inequalities, adding that responsible governance of emerging technologies was essential to creating an inclusive digital future.
Mr Sukparu also highlighted the pivotal role of universities in advancing research, innovation, entrepreneurship and evidence-based policymaking.
He called for stronger collaboration between academia, industry and government, noting that sustained partnerships would be critical to developing a resilient digital economy and positioning Ghana as a leader in Africa’s digital transformation.
He further commended KNUST for providing a platform for dialogue on the future of education and technology, describing the discussions during the conference as valuable contributions to shaping national digital policy.
The Deputy Minister expressed appreciation to the Vice-Chancellor of KNUST, Prof. (Mrs.) Rita Akosua Dickson, the University Management, the Organising Committee and the university community for their hospitality and for hosting the conference.
He concluded by urging stakeholders to work collectively towards building a digital future that is innovative, inclusive and transformative for all Ghanaians.
