Mohammed Meraj Khan, Managing Director of eProcess International, has called for technology education to be introduced to schoolchildren at a young age to equip them with the skills needed to shape the future.
He said the growing importance of artificial intelligence, data governance and digital platforms made it essential for students to develop an understanding of technology early in their education.
Mr Khan made the call during the commissioning of a Digital Learning Centre supported by eProcess International.
He said technology was no longer a luxury reserved for the Information Technology sector but had become integral to virtually every aspect of modern life, including healthcare, logistics, education and entertainment.
“At eProcess International, technology is at the centre of what we do,” he said, explaining that the company provided shared platforms, infrastructure, connectivity and technology support for Ecobank across the group.
According to him, the company’s work provided a clear view of the rapid pace at which technology was changing and the growing role it played in serving customers better.
He said eProcess International supported the digital learning initiative because exposing students to technology and related skills at an early age would give them the foundation to contribute meaningfully to their communities in the future.
“Every major technology solution that is invented actually starts with a dream,” Mr Khan said, urging the students to dream of creating innovative solutions through technology and to follow those dreams with action.
He encouraged the students to make effective use of the Digital Learning Centre to develop their skills and create solutions that could improve the well-being of their communities.
Mr Khan also urged teachers to use the facility to help students acquire the appropriate technological skills from an early age.
He emphasised that the digital learning centre should not be viewed merely as an extracurricular facility, but as an important platform for preparing students to contribute to the future of the country, the continent and the world.
“The future of the world revolves around technology,” he added, urging the students to take their technology education seriously and use the opportunity to help shape the future.
