Former Deputy Executive Director of the National Service Authority (NSA), Gifty Oware-Mensah, who is wanted by the National Intelligence Bureau (NIB) over the massive ghost names on the NSA payroll during her tenure, is said to have travelled to  Morocco with the senior women’s national team, the Black Queens.

Gifty Oware-Mensah went on that trip in her capacity as the chairperson of the Black Queens’ Management Committee, and an executive committee member of the Ghana Football Association (GFA).

Recent media reports claimed that Gifty Oware-Mensah, who also owns Berry Ladies FC, reportedly left the country following the defeat of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the 2024 general elections.

According to emerging reports, the NIB wants to question her in relation to an ongoing investigation into alleged payroll scandal at the NSA.

However, sources close to Joy Sports have confirmed that she is not gone into hiding as previously alleged, but is actively discharging her duties with the Black Queens in Casablanca, Morocco.

The Black Queens are in Morocco for a training tour ahead of the rescheduled 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON).

As part of their preparations, Ghana played the Atlas Lionesses on Friday, suffering a 1-0 defeat. They are scheduled to play Raja Casablanca Women later on Monday as they continue their build-up to the tournament.

Gifty Oware-Mensah, who was elected as the Women’s Premier League representative on the GFA Executive Council (ExCo) on October 5, 2024, has been actively involved in women’s football development in Ghana.

It remains unclear whether she will return to Ghana immediately after the Black Queens’ training camp or if she has received any formal summons from the NIB regarding the alleged investigation.

For now, she continues to carry out her official duties with the team as they prepare for their continental assignment.
