GJA to issue new membership ID cards this week

The Ghana Journalists Association has announced that the distribution of ID cards for members will be done this week, as the association prepares to go to the polls next week.

This because, the GJA executive has finally secured a deal with Margins Group, a Ghanaian company that specializes in secure identity solutions, card manufacturing, and digitalization services, to print the ID cards for members ahead of the elections.

The agreement was reached between the two parties after months of negotiations, which involved KGL Group as sponsors of the production of the membership ID cards.

Consequently, members are requested to send a soft copy (jpg) of their passport-size picture taken on a white background to this email address: gja.passportphoto@gmail.com, to be used for the ID card.

The passport-size picture must be of good quality (‘selfies’ are not acceptable) and must be accompanied by detailed information, including name, organization, region, and contact.

The printing, issuing, and delivering of the membership ID cards will be done according to the order of receipt of the passport-size pictures.

The exercise will begin with the list of members in good standing as published in the national dailies recently before attending to other members.

For the past 10 years or more, the issuing of membership ID cards has stalled due to technical and financial challenges, but upon assumption of office three years ago, the current administration, led by Albert Kwabena Dwumfour, promised to address that challenge and deliver ID cards to members.

“I am very excited to see this day come finally, and I believe members will be equally excited about this development, given the fact that they have been so concerned about their ID cards.

“We thank Margins Group and KGL Group for helping us to redeem this promise,” Dwumfour said.
