Google launches AlphaEvolve AI code-optimisation tool for all Google Cloud customers

Google has announced the general availability of AlphaEvolve, its Gemini-powered artificial intelligence (AI) code-optimisation agent, to all Google Cloud customers through the Gemini Enterprise Agent Platform.

‎‎The company said the tool is designed to help organisations identify more efficient algorithms for complex tasks, including microchip design, logistics network routing and accelerating medical research.

‎‎According to Google, AlphaEvolve functions as an evolutionary collaborator, enabling users to provide a baseline algorithm together with defined objectives. The AI agent then automatically explores potential improvements and delivers optimised, human-readable code based on the user’s requirements.

‎‎Unlike conventional AI coding assistants that generate software from scratch, AlphaEvolve focuses on refining existing algorithms. Google said the approach allows organisations to improve performance while maintaining greater control over the underlying code and objectives.

‎‎The technology was first introduced in private preview in December 2025. Since then, a number of early adopters have used the platform to tackle complex business and research challenges that had previously proved difficult to solve.

‎‎Among the organisations cited by Google are BASF, JetBrains and Kinaxis, which the company said have successfully applied AlphaEvolve to address previously intractable problems across their respective industries.

‎‎Google said the wider rollout reflects growing demand for AI tools capable of solving highly specialised optimisation challenges beyond traditional software development.

‎‎The announcement was made on Thursday through the company’s official blog, with AlphaEvolve now available to Google Cloud customers via the Gemini Enterprise Agent Platform.
