The International Justice Mission (IJM) has reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening its partnership with the Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection to combat child trafficking, exploitation and other forms of violence against children in Ghana.

The assurance was given by the West Africa Director of IJM, Ms Anita Budu, during a courtesy call on the Minister for Gender, Children and Social Protection, Dr Agnes Naa Momo Lartey.

‎Ms Budu said IJM had collaborated with the Ministry since 2015 to strengthen child protection systems and support government efforts to prevent child trafficking and exploitation.

‎‎She explained that the visit was to formally engage the Minister, share the progress made through the partnership and reaffirm the organisation’s commitment to supporting the Ministry’s child protection agenda.

‎‎Dr Momo Lartey welcomed the delegation and commended IJM for its consistent support, describing the collaboration as one of the Ministry’s strongest partnerships.

‎She emphasised that protecting children from trafficking, exploitation and abuse requires sustained collaboration between government and development partners, adding that the Ministry was ready to deepen its partnership with IJM to deliver greater results.

‎‎The Minister noted that the partnership had contributed significantly to strengthening child protection systems across the country through advocacy, joint rescue operations, public education on child protection laws and interventions to tackle child labour.

‎‎She further stated that IJM had become increasingly responsive to government priorities and continued to play an important role in implementing the National Plan of Action on child protection.

‎The Ministry and IJM reaffirmed their shared commitment to strengthening collaboration to enhance child protection systems and ensure the safety and well-being of children across Ghana.
