The new iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone Duo have become the first Apple models to support dedicated private LTE networks operating on Anterix’s licensed 900MHz spectrum, the US-based company has announced.
Anterix said the integration enables critical infrastructure operators, including utility and industrial enterprises, to deploy standard commercial smartphones directly on dedicated Band 106 private wireless networks alongside specialised operational equipment.
The company said the capability allows iPhones to operate on the same private 900MHz network infrastructure used for mission-critical operations.
“Today, an iPhone, which is used every day by millions of people, can now operate on the same private 900MHz network infrastructure that supports mission-critical operations,” said Carlos L’Abbate, Chief Technology and Engineering Officer at Anterix.
He described the development as “another clear sign that dedicated private wireless networks are becoming mainstream communications platforms”.
With Band 106 support now available on the flagship Apple devices, Anterix said infrastructure operators could use standard iPhones for field communications, video transmission and situational awareness.
The company said this could reduce the need for crews to carry multiple dedicated devices by allowing standard iPhones to operate alongside specialised equipment on private wireless networks.
