It has been just over two years since McDan Aviation launched Ghana’s first commercial Private Jet Terminal, and it has already docked over a thousand private jets and counting.
Manager of the terminal, Sharon Odoi-Atsem disclosed this to Techfocus24 Managing Editor, Sammy Dowuona during an exclusive tour of the world-class facility at the Kotoka International Airport in Accra.
The terminal, touted as the best in class, houses a presidential lounge, a cigar lounge, three other spacious private and executive lounges, a cozy sitting area, two conference rooms, a top-notch bar with luxurious drinks, and a very spacious and welcoming lobby, which features a Ghanaian theme, characterized by specially made furniture that depict the best of Ghanaian artistry.

Like all terminals, it has immigration and customs desks at the arrival and departure areas, plus a port health desk and a bank where customers can do financial transactions. There is also the usual screening area manned by aviation security.
Meanwhile, the arrival area also has a visa-on-arrival service for persons who are unable to acquire entry visas from their home country. McDan Aviation actually assists clients to get visa on arrival within minutes.
According to Sharon Odoi-Atsem, all the facilities at the terminal are offered for free to all customers, once they pay to either board any of McDan Aviation’s three aircrafts of pay to dock their own private jets at the terminal.

Sharon Odoi-Atsen said the nine-seater aircraft is usually hired for overseas trips to anywhere in the world, while the seven-seater is often used for in country and continental (Africa) trips, adding that the Airbus has a multipurpose use – often rented for inner-city tours, and also as a bullion van or an ambulance.
”On board our aircrafts we over five-star dining and particularly on the nine-seater, there is a full bed where the customer can lie down and sleep during the flight,” she said
To ensure that persons using the terminal have the best of experience, McDan Aviation also runs as luxury car service, which means customers can choose one of the luxury cars that will chauffeur them from the terminal to the aircraft for departure and from the aircraft to the terminal on arrival.
”At McDan we leave no stone unturned to give our customers the best and so any car a customers requests for we do our best to make it available so long as it is in our fleet,” Sharon said.
One of the innovative features about the terminal is that it is not just a conduit for travellers but also a place where small groups can go and hold conferences both in-person and virtually. It has two conference rooms which can house up to ten persons each, plus big screens already connected to the Internet for others to attend meetings virtually.
