The Minister of Communications, Digital Technology, and Innovations, Samuel Nartey George, has dismissed Kwadwo Gyamfi Osafo-Maafo from his role as Director of Cyber Security at the National Communications Authority (NCA).

The decision, which takes immediate effect, was conveyed through an official letter signed by the Chief Director of the Ministry, Alexander Yaw Arphul, on February 14, 2025.

“You are directed to hand over your duties to the Acting Director General of the National Communications Authority. In line with paragraph 8 of your appointment letter, you will be given three months’ salary in lieu of notice,” the letter stated.

Mr. Osafo-Maafo is required to transfer all responsibilities to the Acting Director General of the NCA as part of the transition process.

Minister Samuel George acknowledged Mr. Osafo-Maafo’s contributions to national cybersecurity efforts and expressed his gratitude for his service. However, the ministry did not specify the reasons behind the termination.

Meanwhile, some 13 other workers at the Ministry itself and in some other agencies of the ministry were also fired. They include Maame Broni Gyampontemaa and the NPP Constituency Chairman for Ablekuma West, where the former minister, Ursula Owusu-Ekuful was the MP.
