MobileMoney Fintech LTD Ghana CEO Shaibu Haruna has called for a broader approach to digital financial services that goes beyond transaction volumes to help customers build long-term financial resilience.

‎‎Speaking on Day 2 of the MTN Group Fintech Summit 2026 in Johannesburg, Mr Haruna said fintech providers must focus on deepening financial access by enabling more people to save, invest and access credit.

‎He made the remarks during a panel discussion with fintech chief executives from Zambia, Cameroon and Nigeria on the future of digital financial services.

‎‎Mr Haruna said the sector’s future should be centred on helping people make meaningful financial progress rather than focusing solely on the movement of money through digital platforms.

‎His comments placed financial resilience at the centre of the evolving role of fintech, highlighting the need to expand the benefits of digital financial services beyond transactions.

‎“The future of fintech is about more than moving money. It’s about creating meaningful financial progress,” he said.
