MTN Ghana posts 46.1% rise in profit after tax to GH¢5.1bn in H1 2026

Scancom PLC, the parent company of MTN Ghana, recorded a 46.1 per cent increase in profit after tax to GH¢5.1 billion in the first half of 2026, driven by strong growth across its core digital and financial services.

The company’s service revenue also rose by 32.3 per cent to GH¢15 billion during the period, according to figures presented at the latest Facts Behind the Figures session organised by the Ghana Stock Exchange.

‎‎Data revenue increased by 37.2 per cent, while Mobile Money revenue grew by 23.3 per cent, reflecting continued expansion in demand for digital connectivity and mobile financial services.

‎‎Earnings per share also increased to GH¢0.388, highlighting the company’s improved profitability during the six-month period.

‎The strong financial performance was reflected in investor activity on the Ghana Stock Exchange on August 10, when MTN Ghana dominated trading on the market.

‎A total of 611,499 MTN Ghana shares, valued at GH¢4.28 million, were traded on the day, accounting for 58.58 per cent of the Ghana Stock Exchange’s total market turnover by value.

‎The results reinforce MTN Ghana’s position as a major player in Ghana’s telecommunications and digital financial services sectors, with data and Mobile Money remaining key contributors to the company’s revenue growth.
