MTN South Africa has announced a strategic partnership with Huawei and China Telecom through a memorandum of understanding (MOU) signed on Tuesday.
The collaboration aims to enhance MTN’s technology offerings in 5G, cloud computing, artificial intelligence (AI), and innovative business solutions, fostering digital growth across the continent.
“This partnership unites China Telecom’s global expertise in network solutions with MTN’s expansive regional reach and Huawei’s advanced technology, creating a powerful alliance to drive digital infrastructure development on the continent,” said Kai Chen, executive vice president of China Telecom Global.
MTN South Africa, the country’s second-largest mobile network operator, emphasised the potential of this collaboration to unlock new business opportunities and introduce advanced technologies to South Africans.
Among these is the Internet of Things (IoT), which connects everyday devices like fridges and industrial equipment to the internet, enabling smarter, more efficient operations.
“For MTN’s business customers, network service improvements could offer new possibilities in smart mining and industrial applications,” added Tumi Sekhukhune-Chamayou, MTN South Africa’s chief enterprise business officer.
The partnership underscores MTN’s commitment to leading the charge in digital transformation, positioning itself as a key player in delivering next-generation technology solutions to businesses and consumers alike.
