MTN Ghana has announced that its Service Centres across the country will be closed for the holiday season from December 29, 2021 to January 3, 2022, citing public health concerns due to escalating Covid-19 cases.

A statement from MTN said the closure of the Service Centres is part of broader measures taken by the business to stem the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic especially in the wake of the new Omicron variant, which has been proven to have a higher transmissibility rate.

The latest figures of Covid-19 cases in Ghana indicate that as of December 21, 2021, the number of active cases have shot up to over 5,100. This is worrying because just day prior, the number of active case was just a little over 1,600.

The digital channels include the company’s Official Social Media Handles namely; Twitter: @MTNGhana or @AskMTNGhana; Facebook: MTNGhana, WhatsApp:0554300000 and 0555300000.

The company said customers may also call MTN’s toll free number 100, adding that MyMTN App  and Ayoba are additional apps that can be used during and after this period.

In addition to the digital channels, MTN said, field teams made up of retail vendors and Mobile Money agents across the country will be operating and will provide additional support.

“MTN Ghana continues to encourage all Ghanaians to observe the appropriate health protocols outlined by the Government, Ghana Health Service and the World Health Organization (WHO),” the statement said.
