MTN Ghana has declared an interim dividend of GHS0.065 per share for a total of 13.24 billion ordinary shares, bringing the total proposed amount to be paid out as dividends to a little over GHS8.6 billion, less taxes.
The interim dividend was approved by the Board of Directors on July 30, 2024 and signed on its behalf by the CEO,
Stephen Blewett and Chief Finance Officer, Antoinette Kwofie.
In their first half 2024 financial performance report, MTN said “declaration of interim ordinary dividend notice is hereby given that a gross interim dividend of GHS0.065 per share for the period ended 30 June 2024 has been declared.”
The 2024 interim dividend compares favorable with that of same period a year before, which stood at GHS0.050 per share.
“This is subject to the deduction of the appropriate taxes,” the report said, adding that “The number of ordinary shares in issue at the date of this declaration is 13,236,175,050.”
In compliance with the requirements of Ghana Stock Exchange rules, the report said, the salient dates relating to the payment of the dividend are as follows:
Ex-dividend date is August 14, 2024, Qualifying date is August 16, 2024 while the actual Dividend payment date September 6, 2024.
“All shareholders registered in the books of Scancom PLC (MTN Ghana) at close of business on Friday, August 16, 2024 qualify for the interim dividend. In view of the foregoing, the ex-dividend date has been set as Wednesday, August 14, 2024. Consequently, an investor purchasing MTNGH shares before this date will be entitled to the interim dividend. However, an investor buying MTNGH shares on or after Wednesday, August 14, 2024 will not be entitled to the interim dividend,” the report said.
It said on Friday, September 6, 2024 the dividend will be transferred electronically to the bank accounts or mobile money wallets of shareholders who make use of these facilities and purchase shares before August 14, 2024.
It is important to note that at the beginning of 2024, MTN Ghana share price was around GHS1.4 but now it gone up significantly to GHS2.35 per share, almost GHS1 higher. Analyst believe that the rate at which company is performing, share price are likely to go even higher.
