Bradwin Roper will join emerging-markets fintech Jumo as head of payment partnerships from 1 November, once he has completed his tenure as CEO of fintech at MTN South Africa.
MTN announced last week that Roper had resigned to “explore a new opportunity”, without disclosing at the time where he was going. Roper will also join Jumo’s executive committee.
“In this new role [at Jumo], Bradwin will support the company to deliver its growth goals by shaping Jumo’s payment partnerships. He will focus on scaling and servicing existing partnerships – including with partners such as MTN – and developing new opportunities for digital financial ecosystems,” Jumo said in a statement on Monday.
Jumo CEO Andrew Watkins-Ball said Roper’s background – he worked at First National Bank before joining MTN – is a “great fit” for Jumo.
“The work I have done over the past few years has sparked an abiding passion to make financial services more accessible through mobile and fintech platforms. I believe my experience and skills will benefit Jumo and its partners significantly in this new role…,” Roper said in the Jumo statement.
