A Canadian-based Ghanaian IT expert, Jay Kwashie has alleged that some cyber bullies threatened his life because he made several posts on social media pointing Ghanaians to IT career opportunities abroad.
In a Facebook post on Monday, April 24, 2023, Jay said he used to make regular posts on Facebook about people seeking opportunities or alternatives abroad to pursue a career in IT, but he was forced to delete all those posts because some unidentified persons entered his inbox and accused him of making their Ghanaian government unpopular, and that if he did not stop they will harm him if he ever visits Ghana.
Jay said he is not afraid of the bullies but he has decided to choose his peace of mind over a needless battle.
He did not say whether the matter has been reported to the police, but said that going forward, he will dedicate his Facebook page to posts about training JOMACS will be offering now or in future, adding “Anything relating to jobs, Canada, etc, you can look elsewhere.”
Below is the full text of the Facebook post:
If you checked, you’d find that I’ve withdrawn all posts I’ve ever made about people seeking opportunities or alternatives abroad and pursuing a career in IT.
I did so because of the many threats I received in my inbox in the last two days warning me about my life and that whenever I come to Ghana, they’ll deal with me. According to these folks, I’m making the government of Ghana unpopular by making it seem Ghana is not doing well and that people should seek opportunities elsewhere.
It’s not that I’m scared of those threats but I think I’d choose my peace of mind over anything. Going forward, this wall would only be about any training JOMACS will be offering now or in future. Anything relating to jobs, Canada, etc, you can look elsewhere.
For those of you who registered for the month long SQL training, I’ll see you in May as I’ll be one of your tutors.
