Nvidia will collaborate with several Australian data centre and cloud partners to build about 2 gigawatts of computing capacity in the country by 2027.
The company said on Thursday that the initiative would expand Australia’s data centre infrastructure and support growing demand for artificial intelligence (AI) computing power.
Nvidia will work with Australian firms including Firmus, Sharon AI, IREN, ResetData, Megaport, CDC, NextDC and AirTrunk.
The partners will use Nvidia’s DSX platform to develop additional data centre infrastructure as part of the planned capacity expansion.
“Expanding capacity in Australia will enable local innovators to develop models, applications and agents while supporting additional power generation projects to support regional and global demand for AI compute,” Nvidia said in a statement.
The financial terms of the partnerships were not immediately clear.
The initiative adds to data centre projects already being developed by Nvidia’s AI partners in Australia.
Nvidia has increasingly highlighted the need for more data centre capacity globally as demand for AI computing power continues to rise. The company produces advanced AI processors used to power AI workloads.
