The Speaker of Parliament, Rt Hon Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin, has pledged his support for the establishment of a vocational and technical training school in the Santrokofi Traditional Area following a courtesy call by traditional rulers from the community.

‎‎The chiefs and elders appealed to the Speaker to assist in facilitating the construction of the institution, citing the long-standing absence of a senior high school in the area.

‎According to the traditional leaders, generations of students have had to travel considerable distances to access secondary education, creating challenges for families and affecting educational outcomes.

‎‎During the meeting, the delegation stressed the need for a vocational and technical school to equip young people with practical skills and improve employment opportunities within the community.

‎‎Responding to the request, Mr Bagbin reaffirmed the government’s commitment to expanding access to education and strengthening educational infrastructure across the country.

‎He acknowledged the concerns raised by the traditional authorities and assured them that he would utilise the avenues available to him to support the initiative.

‎‎The Speaker noted that technical and vocational education remains a key component of Ghana’s development agenda, as it helps prepare young people for the demands of the modern labour market while promoting entrepreneurship and self-employment.

‎‎The assurance has been welcomed by residents and traditional leaders of the Santrokofi Traditional Area, who view the proposed institution as a significant step towards improving access to quality education and accelerating socio-economic development in the community.

‎The proposed school is expected to enhance educational opportunities for young people in the area while contributing to the broader goal of expanding technical and vocational training across the country.
