A multi-vehicle collision involving a high-occupancy passenger bus, a loaded articulated truck and a sedan has caused a complete blockage of the N6 Highway at Birimso Bridge, disrupting traffic in both the Accra and Kumasi directions.
The Ghana Police Service said the crash occurred on 3 August 2026, prompting officers from the Eastern South Regional Motor Traffic and Transport Department (MTTD) based in Kibi to respond to the scene.
To ease congestion, police have temporarily diverted Accra-bound vehicles through Kibi at Nsutam, while motorists travelling towards Kumasi are being redirected at Apedwa.
The diversions will remain in place as officers work to clear the accident scene and restore normal traffic flow on the busy Accra-Kumasi highway.
The Police have appealed to motorists and other road users to cooperate with officers managing traffic and to comply with the temporary diversion arrangements.
The cause of the crash and any casualties were not immediately disclosed.
