The Volta Regional Minister, Hon. James Gunu, has stressed that reliable telecommunications services are critical to the region’s ambition of becoming a leading investment destination.

He said investors needed dependable communication networks to operate effectively, making improved connectivity a priority for the region’s economic development.

Hon. James Gunu made the remarks when the Minister for Communication, Digital Technology and Innovations, Hon. Samuel Nartey George, paid a courtesy call on him at the start of a two-day working tour of the Volta Region.

According to the Regional Minister, network challenges affect several aspects of development, including security, healthcare and business activities.

“When we assumed office, it came up, you know, in the security sector, came up in the health sector, and came up also in the business sector because Volta Region is becoming the best investment destination. And investors need a reliable communication network,” he said.

He commended Hon. Sam George for responding to concerns about telecommunications services in the region, saying the measures taken by the ministry were already producing improvements.

Hon. Gunu, however, acknowledged that the work was ongoing and called for sustained cooperation to ensure the region achieved its development objectives.

The Communications Minister’s tour includes visits to rural telephony installations and Community Information Centres supporting the government’s One Million Coders Programme.

The regional minister said the Volta Regional Coordinating Council would continue working with the ministry to address connectivity challenges and support the region’s investment ambitions.
