Water shortage hits Western Accra due to challenges at Weija plant

Water supply to several parts of western Accra has been disrupted following technical challenges at the Weija Water Treatment Plant, according to Ghana Water Limited.

‎‎In a statement, the company said the challenges had affected water production and distribution, leading to erratic supply and low water pressure in a number of communities.

‎The affected areas include Dansoman, Mamprobi, Mataheko, Laterbiokorshie, Korle-Bu, La Paz, MacCarthy Hill, Gbawe, Mallam, Tesano, Darkuman, North Kaneshie, Dome, Achimota, Anyaa and Ablekuma, as well as surrounding communities.

‎‎Management of Ghana Water Limited assured residents that its engineers and technical teams were working to resolve the problem and restore normal supply as soon as possible.

‎They also advised consumers to store water whenever supply becomes available in their communities in order to manage the temporary disruption.

‎The company also urged essential service providers to contact their Assembly Members or reach the GWL Call Centre for assistance through the following numbers: 0800 40 000 for Telecel users, and 0302218240, 0207385087, 0207385088, 0207385089 and 0207385090 for all networks.

‎‎Customers may also contact Ghana Water Limited through its social media platforms for further updates and information.

‎The company apologised to customers affected by the disruption and appealed for calm and cooperation while efforts continue to restore full water supply.
