Zeepay, Africa’s fastest growing mobile money and remittance platform has signed a GHS1 million sponsorship/partnership deal with one of Ghana’s leading football clubs, Fabulous Kumasi Asante Kotoko.
The deal will last for one year, but there is an opportunity for renewal, according to a statement from Asante Kotoko, signed by Head of Legal, Akua Pokua Kwarteng.
The statement said the club agreed to bring Zeepay onboard following the recent endorsement Zeepay received from Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II during this year’s Akwasidae in October.
The deal, according to the statement, means that from henceforth, Zeepay is the official mobile financial service for Asante Kotoko and the Zeepay brand logo will also be on all Asante Kotoko club jerseys.
Management of the club therefore urged all fans of the club to patronize Zeepay services.
“…as always, this partnership was agreed with our cherished fans in mind, which is why we entreat our fans to patronize the mobile money and remittance services offered by Zeepay,” the statement said.
It said further details of the “ground-breaking” deal will be provided at the unveiling ceremony later.
Zeepay is currently Africa’s fastest growing FinTech and payment partner focusing on digital rails to connect digital assets such as mobile money wallets to international money transfer operators in an effort to improve last mile access within the continent of Africa.
The company reported moving over US$350 million in remittances to Ghana in 2020 alone, and it has recently made some acquisition on the continent to spread its footprints even further across Africa.
Zeepay is registered in the United Kingdom as a FinTech and rides on that opportunity to push its vision for a global reach.
Zeepay CEO, Andrew Takyi-Appiah had earlier told TechGh24 that the company has a global focus and is confident of achieving that goal because it works with the science behind the services to ensure success.
“The main key for us is investment into the science behind the service and that is what we have been doing – having a science to the program is key to your success – our operations are very data driven and scientific – we work smart,” he said.
The Zeepay Mobile Money service is available on *270#. Any phone user in Ghana can dial the code and follow the prompts to create a Zeepay wallet.
Mwanwhile, Zeepay is the only mobile money platform that allows customers to use WhatsApp to access their wallet in addition to the *270# and the Zeepay App.
