Ghanaweb and Ghana Tourism Authority sign MoU

Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA) and GhanaWeb have agreed to cooperate and throw the spotlight on events and activities organized by GTA with the view to promoting tourism in the country.

The two signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) at the GTA Head Office in Accra. CEO of the Ghana Tourism Authority, Akwasi Agyeman, and CEO of GhanaWeb, David Antwi signed on behalf of their respective organizations.

Under the MoU, the two entities have crystalized their commitment to promoting tourism, cultural exchange, and diaspora engagement through GhanaWeb’s wider reach and strong diaspora readership.

The proposed areas of collaboration are as follows:

  • Return Conversations Platform

The “Return Conversations” platform facilitates dialogue, knowledge sharing, and engagement related to diaspora issues. It establishes a quarterly forum for stakeholders. GTA and GhanaWeb will jointly support and participate on this platform and join periodic conversations based on mutual agreement.

  • Cross Promotion of “December in GH” Campaign

GhanaWeb, leveraging its extensive reach, will promote GTA’S annual “December in GH” campaign. This campaign attracts tourists and the global African diaspora to Ghana during this season. GhanaWeb will be recognized as the official media partner for December in GH. A December in GH page will be created on GhanaWeb to disseminate events information.

  • Beyond the Return Page on GhanaWeb

GhanaWeb will create a dedicated section on its website specifically for the Beyond the project. This section will feature relevant content, including articles, interviews, events and success stories related to diaspora engagement, investment, and cultural exchange.

Under the agreement, GTA will coordinate social media campaigns between “Beyond the Return” and December in Ghana inspiring stories, event updates, and engaging visuals will be shared, encouraging user-get content using relevant GTA hashtags.

GTA, in partnership with the Ghana Investment Promotion Company (GIPC), will also use GhanaWeb’s platform to promote investment opportunities in Ghana. Focus on areas such as tourism, real estate, agriculture, and technology, will be highlighted to encourage diaspora investors to set up business ventures in the country.

Speaking at the signing ceremony, the CEO of GhanaWeb, David Antwi said his outfit is excited to partner with GTA; and believes that this golden opportunity will deepen the relationships of both organizations.

GTA Boss, Akwasi Agyeman said GhanaWeb has a wider reach and a strong diaspora readership which will strengthen both organizations to be able to market and promote Ghana both domestically and internationally.
